Instructional Focus
Across all classrooms, we will consistently use culturally-relevant resources and coherent instructional practices (such as questioning techniques and a frequent analysis of data) in order to support student voice, establish inclusivity, foster our students’ sense of identity – leading to increased engagement by all students and improved academic outcomes for all learners.
Our students…
learn NYS standards in Mathematics, Reading, Writing, Science and Social Studies through a social justice lens. This means that instructional materials are specially adapted to reflect and celebrate the uniqueness each student brings to our school community (inclusive of diverse races, ethnicities, cultures and preferences). Students are given the tools and learn the skills necessary to advocate and become agents of change.
Our staff…
collectively contributed to the writing of our PS 6X Community Agreements, which redefine our responsibilities as educators to be the catalyst for change, lead with an open heart, speak life into our students and build strong connections. We believe in our students' genius and expect greatness from them!
Our families…
are valued partners and we work together to create positive school experiences for each of our students. We are grateful to have our parents as thought partners as we continually brainstorm ways to make our school a joyful place for learning!
